BRISBANE LEGAL STUDIES YOUTH PARLIAMENT
The Brisbane Legal Studies Youth Parliament provides an opportunity for senior school students currently studying Legal Studies to experience first-hand Queensland's legislative process. Students will:
- debate a mock bill,
- speak in an adjournment debate or provide a private members' statement about any issue falling within the jurisdiction of the Queensland Parliament.
The Youth Parliament is hosted by the Queensland Parliament, and will be chaired by the Speaker, the Honourable Curtis Pitt MP.
Interested schools can nominate up to four students.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION
How many students can schools nominate?
Schools are invited to nominate up to a maximum of four students who are:
- in Year 11 or 12, and
- currently studying Legal Studies.
The final number of student participants allocated per school will depend on the number of schools that nominate. As we want as many schools to take part as possible, it is not guaranteed you will receive the number of nominations you request.
What is the commitment for teachers and students?
For teachers:
All teachers are required to attend one online briefing session via MS Teams:
- Wednesday 21 February, 7.15am to 8.00am
- Thursday 22 February, 3.30pm to 4.15pm
- Tuesday 27 February, 3.30pm to 4.15pm
Schools with no representative at a briefing will not be able to participate in the Youth Parliament.
For students:
As Youth Members, students will need to be committed to prepare a one-minute speech to present on the day. Students also need to follow parliamentary etiquette.
PHOTO AND MEDIA CONSENT
All students wishing to participate are required to have photo consent, as the Youth Parliament is recorded and shared on our YouTube channel. The media also often attend Youth Parliament and may film or photograph students.
