The Queensland Parliament will, subject to approval by the Speaker, publish committee minutes aged at least 30 years old. Portfolio committee documents held by the Parliament and not previously released, may be considered for publication in the following year that the documents mature to 30 years, in accordance with Standing Order 20(3) of the Standing Rules and Orders of the Legislative Assembly.

The Parliament of Queensland Act 2001 (s 61) provides that the Clerk has custody of all documents in the possession of the Assembly, a committee or an inquiry.

The first committee minutes to be publicly released in April 2019 were the minutes of meetings of the Parliamentary Committee of Public Accounts held in 1988. These minutes were not made public in 1988 but held by the Clerk for 30 years.

Other committee documents may be considered for release upon request when they reach 30 years of age. Many committee documents are already available on the Online Tabled Papers database to browse or search, and on the Former Committees webpages. The exceptions to release of committee documents are those produced by the Parliamentary Crime and Corruption Committee, which are withheld for at least 100 years (Standing Order 20(4)), and documents produced by the Ethics Committee which are subject to terms of confidentiality in accordance with Standing Order 211B.
