Queensland residents draw attention to the need for the Minister for Transport and Main Roads to expedite the upgrade and duplication of Exit 49 of the M1. Congestion occurs every morning and afternoon in peak periods at Exit 41 and is a serious safety issue that has the potential to cause serious accidents resulting in injury or death. The funding for this upgrade, on a 50-50 basis, between the Federal and State Governments, has been confirmed and that means there is no valid reason to delay the planning and construction process.

Your petitioners, therefore, request the House to ensure the government undertakes, as a matter of utmost urgency, improvements to the operation of this dangerous interchange, Exit 41 of the M1, as part of the COVID-19 Economic Recovery plan, before lives are lost.
