Queensland residents draws to the attention of the House in assisting to support small local businesses that are suffering due to excluding driving schools from recovering the lost revenue impacted by COVID-19 restrictions that eliminated practical testing on 27 March 2020. Practical tests are vital to the services that driving schools provide and the decision to remove them from the process impacts on their business and services they provide to students and community and goes against the government’s commitment.

Your petitioners therefore, request the House to urge the Minister for Transport and Main Roads to revoke the current policy that is restricting driving schools from being able to book their own students for tests and work in conjunction with local schools to help relieve the pressure and continue to provide a service we have been providing for years.
