TO: The Honourable the Speaker and Members of the Legislative Assembly of Queensland

Queensland residents draws to the attention of the House the continual disruption to many families on the Northern Gold Coast, from the often-nightly activity of hooning on our streets. The danger to families who are entitled to feel safe in their homes is of paramount concern. The noise and pollution cause great aggravation to many people who do not keep the best of health.

We are calling for anti-hooning CCTV cameras. We call for the full force of the law to be used on these hooning drivers. These hooning drivers should be charged the highest penalties permitted under law, including crushing of their vehicles. We call for an additional 35 police officers for the Northern Gold Coast, just to catch up with the population growth, as well as the fast tracking of the construction of the Pimpama Police Station.

Your petitioners, therefore, request the House to do all in its power to implement all resources available to stop the hooning in the Northern Gold Coast, by installing CCTV cameras, deploying an additional 35 police officers, confiscating and crushing hooning vehicles and issue all hooning drivers’ with maximum fines. Please put the safety of our families first.
