TO: The Honourable the Speaker and Members of the Legislative Assembly of Queensland

Queensland residents draws to the attention of the House petition 3348-20 presented by Nick Dametto MP and its attempt to undermine the Rule of Law and the foundation of our liberal democracy. It is true that the coronavirus health emergency is not over, hence fines must still be handed out, however as a democracy we must treat the recent Black Lives Matter and anti-vax protests as exceptions.

Your petitioners, therefore, request the House to dismiss the spirit of petition 3348-20 and do all within its power to reaffirm that in Queensland we will protect public health and prosperity through fines for flagrant breaches of public health orders, however in the same breath reaffirm that you will never legislate away or otherwise attempt to remove freedom of assembly.
