Queensland residents draws to the attention of the House the need to complete the air conditioning in Ormeau Woods State High School, as a matter of urgency. The classrooms that remain un air conditioned have only just been built, they should now be prioritised to be air conditioned in the current school year, to be ready for use in Term 4 of 2020.
It is unrealistic to expect students, teachers and support staff in our school, to learn, teach and assist each day, in the high temperatures experienced in our area of the northern Gold Coast, where we don’t have sea breezes. The government should be looking after everyone and providing a consistent learning environment for our children which will, in turn, improve learning outcomes.

Your petitioners therefore request the House to do all in its power to have the government provide funding to complete the air conditioning in the remaining teaching areas of the school in 2020, to ensure our students are able to learn in a comfortable and cool environment.
