Queensland citizens draws to the attention of the House that commercial fishers in Queensland are concerned about legislative proposals to allow Fisheries Queensland to make "Urgent Declarations" that could close a fishery for up to three months with no compensation for fishing businesses.

Your petitioners, therefore, request the House to review the proposed changes regarding declarations and compensation and provide a guarantee that if Urgent Declarations are used, that commercial fishers will be fairly compensated, covering owner and lease operators.
