TO: The Honourable the Speaker and Members of the Legislative Assembly of Queensland

The petition of electors of Ashgrove draws to the attention of the House that we would like the Brisbane City Council to urgently investigate the temporary closing of Ardentallen Road at the T-intersection of Ardentallen Road and Lloyd Street, Enoggera.  Current road signage, traffic calming and intermittent police presence have not deterred 'rat runners', speeding vehicles and the performance of illegal left hand turns into this suburban side street primarily from those accessing Gallipoli (Army) Barracks.  These continuing practices now compromise the wellbeing of all who use this street.

Your petitioners, therefore, request the House to urge the Brisbane City Council, in the interests of the safety of those who reside in this street and the local community, to close this entrance until the construction work at Gallipoli Barracks Enoggera is completed in 2014, at which time the re-opening of the street could be considered after local consultation.
