TO: The Honourable the Speaker and Members of the Legislative Assembly of Queensland

The petition of electors of the Electorate of Kawana and neighbouring areas draws to the attention of the House, the Bligh Labor Government's unacceptable and shameful delay by two years of the opening of the University of the Sunshine Coast Hospital in Kawana.  This delay will be detrimental for local residents and families and a return to the original promised timeframe is essential and incumbent on the Minister for Health, the Hon Paul Lucas MP.

Your petitioners, therefore, request the House to adhere to the Bligh Government's original promise that stage one of the project which consists of 450 beds, is completed by 2014 as initially promised to the local community.
