TO: The Honourable the Speaker and Members of the Legislative Assembly of Queensland
The petition of citizens of Queensland draws to the attention of the House the proposed closure of Hemmant State Primary School in Brisbane. Hemmant State School has a 100 year history and has evolved to become an integral part of the local Hemmant and wider Bayside community. The school provides quality education and promises continued growth in the future. Its closure would not only be a devastating loss to local families and the community but it would be a significant loss to Brisbane's history. Your petitioners therefore request the House to protect Hemmant State School and desist with any plans for its closure now or in the future, for the sake of both students and the community.
