Queensland residents draws to the attention of the House, the urgent need to upgrade the bus services between Ormeau Station and Coomera Station which includes services throughout the Pimpama area.

This area is identified as being at the centre of the fastest growing region in Queensland. Increased bus routes, an extension of hours and more frequent bus services are therefore essential for the provision of services to the residents of this fast-growing area. 

The City of Gold Coast has committed $11 million over 5 years to improve the transport options for residents in this area but we are still waiting to hear from the Minister for Transport and Main Roads, regarding the Queensland State Government's contribution. 

The Ormeau-Pimpama-Coomera area continues to grow at more than three times the City of Gold Coast average and, as such, must be serviced by the appropriate public transport infrastructure. 

With the 2022 Queensland State Government budget due to be brought down on the 21st of June, now is the time to act.

Your petitioners, therefore, request the House to do all in its power to ensure the Department of Transport and Main Roads work with the City of Gold Coast to ensure funding is approved for the upgrade of bus services between Ormeau Railway Station and Coomera Railway Station, with more routes and more regular services that start earlier and finish later, as a matter of urgency.
