Joan Pease MP has been the Labor Member for Lytton in the Queensland Legislative Assembly since 31 January 2015. Born in Brisbane on 15 September 1961, she brings a strong background in adult education and small business to her parliamentary role. Prior to entering politics, Joan worked extensively in adult education, developing training programs for the long-term unemployed, and operated her own small business. In November 2024, Joan was appointed Shadow Minister for Small Business and Shadow Minister for Customer Service and Open Data. She also serves on the Local Government, Small Business and Customer Service Committee, where she contributes to policy development and oversight in these key areas. Throughout her parliamentary career, Joan has been an active member of numerous committees, including the Health and Environment Committee, the Parliamentary Crime and Corruption Committee, and the Infrastructure, Planning and Natural Resources Committee. From December 2017 to November 2024, she served as Senior Government Whip, demonstrating her leadership within the parliamentary caucus. Joan is deeply committed to her local Brisbane Bayside community, advocating for improved infrastructure, health, education, and environmental sustainability in the region. She is also a member of the Parliamentary Friends of Dementia, reflecting her dedication to health and social issues. Joan Pease continues to be a passionate representative for Lytton, working to ensure that her constituents voices are heard and their needs addressed in the Queensland Parliament.
