Queensland citizens draws to the attention of the House the excessive hooning activity, including excessive speed and noise, on the Gold Coast Highway near Admiralty Drive, Surfers Paradise, along the stretch of road adjacent to Macintosh Island Park. Recent hooning is so loud it wakes residents, and causes a significant safety concern for pedestrians.

Your petitioners, therefore, request the House for the installation of permanent speed cameras along both inbound and outbound stretches of road into Surfers Paradise on the Gold Coast Highway. Speed monitoring devices will help to reduce the incidence and magnitude of speeding before there is a serious accident or multiple fatality event.
