TO: The Honourable the Speaker and Members of the Legislative Assembly of Queensland

Queensland residents draws to the attention of the House the community view that some sentences for serious, violent and/or sexual offences are inadequate and are not consistent with community expectations.


Your petitioners, therefore, request the House to:


  1. support the work of the sentencing advisory committee regarding minimum non-parole periods for certain serious, violent and/or sexual offences; and
  2. consider increasing penalties for certain serious, violent and/or sexual offences and offences committed against on-duty Police and/or Emergency Services Officers.
