Report No. 25, 56th Parliament - Inquiry into the Strategic Review of the Office of the Queensland Ombudsman

Overview

The Ombudsman Act 2001 (the Act) provides for periodic strategic reviews of the Office of the Queensland Ombudsman.

A strategic review includes a review of the Ombudsman’s functions and a review of the Ombudsman’s performance of the functions to assess whether they are being performed economically, effectively and efficiently (section 83(8)).

The 2017 strategic review was conducted by Simone Webbe. The 2017 review report, which included 72 recommendations, was tabled on 15 February 2018.  A copy of the report can be accessed here.

Pursuant to s 85(7) of the Act, the review report, when tabled, is automatically referred to the committee for the purposes of s 92(2) of the Parliament of Queensland Act 2001. Following from that referral, the committee is conducting an inquiry into the 2017 strategic review.  The committee tabled its report on 20 November 2018.  The report can be viewed here.
