Inquiry into the provision of primary, allied and private health care, aged care and NDIS care services and its impact on the Queensland public health system

On 17 November 2021 the Legislative Assembly agreed to a motion that the Health and Environment Committee inquire and report on the provision of primary, allied and private health care, aged care and NDIS care services and its impact on the Queensland public health system.

terms of reference

That the Health and Environment Committee inquire into and report to the Legislative Assembly by 31 March 2022 on

1.

the provision of:

a. primary and allied health care;
b. aged and NDIS care;
c. the private health care system;

and any impacts the availability and accessibility of these services have on the Queensland public health system

2.

in conducting this inquiry, the Health and Environment Committee should consider:

a. the current state of those services (outlined in 1) in Queensland;
b. bulk billing policies, including the Commonwealth Government's Medicare rebate freeze;
c. the Commonwealth Government's definition of the Commonwealth Distribution Priority Areas; and
d. the availability of medical training places at Queensland universities, compared to other jurisdictions

Public hearings

Attendance on the Queensland Parliament precinct – COVID vaccination information and restrictions

All invited guests and visitors to the Queensland Parliament precinct will need to provide proof of vaccination, via their Check-in Queensland app with a ‘green tick’. 

Attendee’s status will be checked by Parliamentary Security as they pass through security screening on arrival to the Parliamentary Annexe. If any guest or visitor is unable to provide this they will need to produce one of the approved documents, as outlined in the Speaker’s directive accessible on the Queensland Parliament COVID 19 Response webpage. 

In summary:

  • No person can enter the parliamentary precinct unless they are fully vaccinated or exempt. This does not apply to young people under the age of 16.
  • All visitors are required to check-in and prove their vaccination status via the ‘Check-in Queensland’ app or other accepted means.
  • Persons exempt from vaccination are required to wear a mask and cannot visit any food or beverage service on the precinct.

Guests and visitors will be required to wear a mask whilst on the precinct. Witnesses will be permitted to remove their mask when addressing a committee during proceedings.

Visitors attending the public gallery to view proceedings are advised that they may be filmed by broadcast media and / or be included in photographs taken by Parliamentary Service staff for purposes including posting on the Parliament’s website or social media sites.

The Queensland Parliamentary Service is committed to protecting the images collected for this purpose in accordance with the Information Privacy Act 2009.
