Visitor access to committee proceedings
Important notes: Committee proceedings (other than private proceedings) are open to the public.
Access to the Parliament for members of the public wishing to attend a public hearing or briefing is through reception on the ground level of the Parliamentary Annexe in Alice Street. Attendees will need to pass through security and must provide government issued photo identification (such as a driver's licence) as proof of identification before being allowed entry.
Please enter the meeting room only if there is a sign indicating that the room is ‘open to the public’. Please wait outside if you do not see such a sign, as the committee might be discussing something in private, or the schedule might have changed at short notice.
Visitors to the Parliament House Annexe will experience some limitations to access around the building while we undertake some upgrades to improve public access in the long term. Between December 2018 and early May 2019 there will be no lifts operational for visitors to the Annexe on Parliamentary sitting days. Access to Annexe levels 4 and above will be by stairs only.
Security should be advised in advance of any visitors who have mobility limitations, so that appropriate arrangements can be made.
Access will continue to be available via the front of Parliament House during sitting weeks, so this will not affect members of the public wishing to view Legislative Assembly proceedings from the public gallery. We apologise for any inconvenience.
Visitors sitting in the public gallery are advised that they may be filmed by broadcast media and / or be included in photos taken by Parliamentary Service staff for purposes including posting on the Parliament’s website or social media sites.
