The petition of Queensland residents draws to the attention of the House the urgent need to fast track the construction of a Youth Centre for the community of Pimpama-Ormeau. The statistics show that the Pimpama-Ormeau area is the fastest growing region in Australia with an explosion in the population from 22,500 people in 2013 to 38,400 people in 2018 and it is still growing. This area has a youth population under the age of 15 at 28.1% - again higher than any region anywhere in the Gold Coast area (Gold Coast under age 15 is 18.3%) with effectively nowhere to go and socialise in a community centre. The target for PCYC is youth up to age 24. Pimpama-Ormeau have 42% in this age group verses the Gold Coast 31.4%.

Your petitioners, therefore, request the House to do all in its power to ensure the construction of a Youth Centre in Pimpama-Ormeau, as a matter of urgency.
