TO: The Honourable the Speaker and Members of the Legislative Assembly of Queensland

The petition of residents of Queensland draws to the attention of the House the pending sale of public parkland owned by the Queensland Government as part of the now closed Nyanda State High School site.  It is located north of Rocky Water Holes Creek with street frontage to Assembly Street Salisbury and adjoins parkland on two sides.

This land, along with adjacent Council owned parkland has been used by Salisbury residents as open space for a long period of time and was developed as a second oval by the then Nyanda State High School in the early 2000's.  The land is unsecured to allow full public open space access.

Your petitioners, therefore, request the House to urge the Minister for Education to excise this portion of the Nyanda State High School site from the land sale and transfer it to the Brisbane City Council for permanent use as parkland for a peppercorn fee.
