The petition of residents of the State of Queensland draws to the attention of the House that taxi drivers and some commercial drivers must pay for and hold two licences.  One being an ordinary drivers licence and also a hire drivers licence but have only the same amount of demerit points as a private motorist.

Your petitioners, therefore, request the House to amend the Transport Act to allow 12 demerit points for each licence so that demerit points lost whilst commercial driving are not credited against the ordinary drivers licence.
