Queensland residents draws to the attention of the House that Glastonbury Road (the Gympie-Woolooga Road) is a road that is in very poor condition. Road worthy cars, need to travel on car worthy roads. The Australian Road Assessment Program (AusRAP) collect data about a road’s attributes and usage to calculate a road safety star rating. The higher the rating, the safer the road, with 5 stars being the safest and 1 star being the least safe. AusRAP has given Glastonbury Road 1 Star. Glastonbury Road has dangerous intersections, dangerous road shoulders and a road that carries water every time there is rain. Often it is necessary to traverse on the road shoulder due to its narrowness. It is a road upon which there have been many accidents, including at least one fatality. Your petitioners reject any assertion that this road should not be a priority in terms of funding.

Your petitioners, therefore, request the House do all in its power to ensure that the whole of Glastonbury Road is bought up to a safe standard and fix the four lane bridges to be dual carriage bridges with Armco barriers.
