Queensland citizens draws to the attention of the House the excessive, disturbing and unhealthy levels of motor vehicle engine noise and/or exhausts at all hours of the day and night. This includes motor bikes, cars and trucks. This includes not older models but luxury top of the range models, some deliberately modified to exhibit loud noise when accelerating to draw attention to the vehicle.

Your petitioners, therefore, request the House to enact appropriate legislation to ensure every vehicle be inspected and tested at the time of first registration, and subsequently every two years for compliance with noise pollution maximum of (say) 40Db at a distance of 5m from the vehicle. Any vehicle failing this test will be unregistered until it is rectified.
