TO: The Honourable the Speaker and Members of the Legislative Assembly of Queensland

Queensland residents draw to the attention of the House, the urgent need for the next two stages of the Coomera Connector (aka the Second M1) to be built. These stages comprise sections north of Shipper Drive to Foxwell Road/Amity Road and Amity Road to the eastern end of Yawalpah Road Pimpama, to alleviate the extreme traffic congestion being experienced on Foxwell Road, which will worsen when the first stage of the Coomera Connector opens to traffic.

For too long, northern Gold Coast residents have endured worsening congestion and inadequate transport infrastructure. With population growth placing even greater pressure on the road network, together with the opening of the long fought for Coomera hospital and other infrastructure, there is an urgent need for the next two stages. Planning for the balance of the Coomera Connector to the Logan Motorway must also occur to ease traffic, improve travel times, and enhance safety.

The Coomera Connector is a critical alternative to the M1, and its completion is essential to keep our region moving.

Your petitioners, therefore, request the House to do all in its power to ensure the new Government prioritises this project and delivers the infrastructure northern Gold Coast deserves. Northern Gold Coast has shouldered the burden of population growth for many years and residents urgently deserve better road infrastructure starting with the further two stages of the Coomera Connector.
