Queensland residents draws to the attention of the House the proposed implementation of Zara's Rule, which would allow parents or nurses to call for immediate intervention from an ICU or PICU doctor when they deem a patient to be in a life-threatening situation and feel their concerns are not being heard. If implemented effectively, Zara's Rule could significantly reduce the number of preventable deaths by ensuring immediate attention for patients deemed at risk. Zara's Rule is intended to complement, not replace, Ryan's Rule.

Zara's Rule is named after Zara Jayde, a 21 month old little girl who tragically lost her life due to delayed life-saving measures in the Queensland Children's Hospital.

Your petitioners, therefore, request the House to implement this crucial rule across all Queensland healthcare institutions as part of their emergency protocols to make hospitals safer places for all patients.
