Ormeau Woods State High School – Critical Infrastructure
Eligibility - Residents of the State of Queensland1st Floor, 270 Lahrs Road
ORMEAU QLD 4208
Queensland residents draw to the attention of the House the need for critical infrastructure upgrades at Ormeau Woods State High School to enhance the learning environment and well-being of all the students.
Firstly, we request the extension of the existing multipurpose centre and the construction of a purpose-built gym facility. The current facilities are inadequate for the increasing student population and limit the range of physical activities and events that can be hosted. A larger multipurpose centre and dedicated gym would support a variety of sports, assemblies, and community events, promoting physical health and school spirit.
Additionally, the installation of more shade, seating and landscaping around the school oval is required. These improvements are necessary to provide comfortable, sun-safe areas for students to gather, relax and engage in outdoor activities. The current lack of shade exposes students to harsh weather conditions and limits the useability of the oval during peak sunlight hours.
Furthermore, the addition of shade structures across the entire school will protect students from harmful UV rays and create more comfortable outdoor learning and recreational spaces.
Your petitioners, therefore, request the House to do all in its power to ensure these infrastructure upgrades to the Ormeau Woods State High School are provided to support the holistic development of the students and ensure a safe healthy, and engaging school environment.
