Queensland residents draws to the attention of the House the urgent need for the installation of a signalised crossing on Foxwell Road Coomera, close to the school and well away from the traffic lights at the intersection of Foxwell Road and Amity Road.

Coomera State Special School will serve 450 students with disabilities who require a safe and secure means of crossing this busy road throughout the day. Unlike other schools, the students need to cross Foxwell Road at various times throughout the day, not just during school drop-off and pick-up times.

A signalised crossing will provide a safe way for the students and their carers to navigate this busy road, ensuring they can cross without fear of accidents, at any time of the day.

The proximity to the proposed Coomera Connector interchange will also increase traffic volume, heightening the risk for the vulnerable students.

This infrastructure is critical in promoting the independence and safety of students, who require additional time to navigate the crossing of roads and other areas of their environment.

Your petitioners, therefore, request the House to do all in its power to ensure the installation of a signalised crossing on Foxwell Road Coomera which is essential to protect the students attending Coomera State Special School and their carers providing them with a safe path to school excursions and activities.
