TO: The Honourable the Speaker and Members of the Legislative Assembly of Queensland

Queensland residents draws to the attention of the House that the Walker Corporation has withdrawn its Toondah Harbour PDA development application which would have impacted on internationally recognised wetlands set aside for protection of endangered migrating birds. The state government has the opportunity to exclude offshore development by reconfiguring the PDA boundaries to protect Moreton Bay.

Your petitioners, therefore, request the House to call on the Minister for Economic Development to exclude from the existing 67ha Toondah Harbour Priority Development Area an area of 49.5ha over water leaving the balance of 17.5ha over of land large enough for medium to high density residential development and a gateway port to service North Stradbroke Island and Moreton Bay.
