Queensland Residents draws to the attention of the House the need to improve safety at the Calliope State School drop-off/pick-up area.

Calliope State School is located on the Dawson Highway. This is a major highway with high volumes of traffic including heavy vehicles. Each day over 500 students from prep to year six travel to school by bus, car, bike or on foot with the majority accessing the school via the Dawson Highway.

The inadequate parking and lack of space results in traffic backing up on the highway, posing significant risks to all road users and pedestrians.

Your petitioners, therefore, request the House to consider all available options to improve the safety of the Calliope State School drop-off and pick-up area for vehicles and pedestrians, including more parking or set down spaces.
