TO: The Honourable the Speaker and Members of the Legislative Assembly of Queensland

Queensland residents draws to the attention of the House the following:

On 24 January 2008, the then Minister for Sustainability, Climate Change and Innovation announced that a Queensland Cloud Seeding Project had commenced. The then Minister declared this was an innovative scientific project aimed at increasing rainfall throughout south-east Queensland catchments by injecting clouds with rainmaking particles and said the Queensland Government was investing $7.6 million over four years in this cloud seeding research project.

The final report on what was curiously renamed the Southeast Queensland Cloud Seeding Research Program concluded that while “…seeded clouds tended to rain over a longer time and a larger area than unseeded clouds…” further research was necessary.

Your petitioners, therefore, request the House to direct the Premier and/or relevant minister to confirm the following to the people of Queensland:

1. That the Queensland Cloud Seeding Research Project concluded in 2012.

2. Advise of any other cloud seeding and/or weather manipulation projects/research that has been carried out since 2012.

3. That there is no current cloud seeding or any other weather manipulation activity being conducted by any agency or organisation in the skies over Queensland.
