The petition of residents of the State of Queensland draws to the attention of the House the need to establish emergency/crisis accommodation in the East Pumicestone Region of Bribie Island, Ningi and Sandstone Point.

The ever increasing need for emergency/crisis accommodation is placing demands on the immediate community of the East Pumicestone Region that cannot be met through existing services in surrounding areas. Domestic violence, homeless citizens, transitional housing and youth homelessness are identified by school chaplains, church welfare officers and non-government agencies, as the key areas requiring immediate attention.

Your petitioners, therefore request the House to take urgent action to fund the provision of these much needed services within the immediate area of the East Pumicestone Region of Bribie Island, Ningi and Sandstone Point.
