The petition of residents of the State of Queensland draws to the attention of the House their demands for a fairer, more reliable and more affordable public transport system and their concerns about:1. Fare increases above CPI (40 per cent for paper ticket holders and 20 per cent for Go Card users).2. The hardship caused by the lack of Go Card retail outlets and top-up facilities throughout SEQ.3. The financial impact of card reader failures and related fines.4. The additional difficulty for casual users, including tourists and visitors from outside SEQ in easily accessing the Go Card system which has lead to penalties.Your petitioners, therefore call on the House to request the Government to respond to these concerns by freezing the price increases, delivering more Go Card outlets and fixing the system’s reliability.
