ABOUT THE BILL

On 16 May 2018, Mr Michael Berkman MP, Member for Maiwar, introduced the Electoral Legislation (Political Donations) Amendment Bill 2018.  The explanatory notes stated that the policy objectives of the Bill were to eliminate the actual and widely perceived risk of corruption within Queensland’s democracy as a consequence of corporate donations to politicians, candidates and political parties.
