ABOUT THE INQUIRY

The Finance and Administration Committee resolved to conduct an inquiry into the legislative arrangements assuring the Queensland Auditor-General’s independence commenced by the former Finance and Administration Committee (54th Parliament).

The Committee considered the evidence gathered by the former Committee. Further information, including copies of submissions and hearing transcripts is available on the former inquiry page.

The terms of reference for the inquiry include:

  • the effectiveness of section 56 of the Auditor-General Act 2009
  • the legislative arrangements for the independence and accountability of the Auditor-General and the Queensland Audit Office
  • how the Queensland arrangements compare to the arrangements in New Zealand and other Australian jurisdictions
  • how the Queensland arrangements compare with international best practice
  • other independence issues.
