ABOUT THE BILLS
On 15 September 2021, the Appropriation (Parliament) Bill (No. 2) 2021 and Appropriation Bill (No. 2) 2021 (Bills) were introduced into the Queensland Parliament by the Hon Cameron Dick MP, Treasurer and Minister for Investment (Treasurer), and referred to the Economics and Governance Committee for detailed consideration. The committee is required to report to the Parliament on the Bills by 1 November 2021.
The purpose of the Appropriation (Parliament) Bill (No. 2) 2021 is to authorise a supplementary appropriation for the Legislative Assembly and Parliamentary Service for unforeseen expenditure that occurred in the 2020-21 financial year. The Treasurer has advised that the $1.795 million supplementary appropriation is related in part to the costs of running the 2020 state election during the pandemic.

The purpose of the Appropriation Bill (No. 2) 2021 is to authorise a supplementary appropriation for unforeseen expenditure by government departments as set out in Schedule 1 of the Bill, for the 2020-21 financial year. The $447.456 million supplementary appropriation relates to expenditure incurred by 6 of the 21 Queensland Government departments.
