Controlling Airbnb and similar rentals

Queensland citizens draws to the attention of the House the massive shortage of homes for people in Queensland. Many see Airbnb, and similar property rental companies, as taking homes from the people to rent for short periods. Holiday rentals could be limited to a part of an existing home and only if the owner of that property is living there when the rental occurs. This would mean stopping complete property rentals on a short-term basis and only allowing partial property rentals. Communities will be much happier knowing the owner is there with the holiday renters.
Your petitioners, therefore, request the House to address the housing crisis by limiting access to holiday rentals to a part of an existing home and only if the owner of that property is living there when the rental occurs.
