Queensland residents draws to the attention of the House the lenient and non-effective sentences imposed on criminals in Queensland. Criminals in Queensland must have a mandatory requirement to repay for any damages and/or repairs they cause to either public or private property in the course of their activity. The same must apply to traffic offences where the perpetrator fails to obey a police direction ie. to stop, and then causes damage to property and assets whether public or private.

Your petitioners, therefore, request the House to immediately issue legislation mandating that criminals must pay for damages and repairs for any destruction caused during their criminal activity and that this repair cost must be on top of the usual fine and/or imprisonment that the criminal would be expected to bear.
