Terms of Reference
On 20 June 2014, the State Development, Infrastructure and Industry Committee resolved to inquire into and report on the State Development and Public Works Organisation (State Development Areas) Amendment Regulation (No. 1) 2014.
In undertaking the inquiry the Committee will consider the policy to be given effect by the Regulation, its application of fundamental legislative principles and the lawfulness of the Regulation.
The regulation was tabled in Parliament on 6 August 2014 and has a disallowance date of 30 October 2014.
The Regulation
The objective of the Regulation was to amend the State Development and Public Works Organisation (State Development Ares) Regulation 2009 to declare the Galilee Basin State Development Area. The declaration identified an area of land between the Galilee Basin and Abbot Point Port where new rail infrastructure and associated industrial development can be located.
