Report No. 60, 56th Parliament - Justice and Other Legislation Amendment Bill 2019

About the Bill

On 28 November 2019, the Hon Yvette D’Ath MP, Attorney-General and Minister for Justice, introduced the Justice and Other Legislation Amendment Bill 2019.  The House referred the Bill to the Legal Affairs and Community Safety Committee for detailed consideration. The committee tabled its report on Friday 21 February 2020. The Bill was passed with amendment on 20 May 2020.

The Bill proposes to amend thirty-three Acts and four Regulations.

The explanatory notes provide that the main objectives of the Bill are to clarify, strengthen and update legislation within the justice portfolio to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of courts and administrative agencies.
