General Briefings

The portfolio committee system aims to ensure close alignment between the work of committees, and the work of the Parliament. 

Briefings from departments and other relevant organisations are just one way the committee ensures it develops a good understanding of its areas of responsibility, including its responsibility for public works and public accounts. 

Australian Council for Educational Research

On 7 May 2014 Dr Gabrielle Matters, Australian Council for Educational Research, briefed the committee about the progress of the independent review of the senior assessment and tertiary entrance system that had been commissioned by the Government.

Mr Mike Byrne, Executive Director of the Queensland Catholic Education Commission, briefed the committee about the catholic education sector on 5 March 2014.
