COMMITTEE'S REPORT
The Committee tabled its Report No. 3a, 55th Parliament, Payroll Tax Rebate, Revenue and Other Legislation Amendment Bill 2015 on 25 May 2015. The Treasurer, Hon C Pitt MP, tabled the Government's response to this report on 2 June 2015. This Bill was PASSED with amendment by the Queensland Parliament on 02 June 2015.
ABOUT THE BILL
On 27 March 2015 the Treasurer introduced the Payroll Tax Rebate, Revenue and Other Legislation Amendment Bill 2015 into the Queensland Parliament. In accordance with Standing Order 131, the Bill was referred to the Finance and Administration Committee for detailed consideration.
The policy objectives of the Bill as stated in the Explanatory Notes are to amend the:
- Payroll Tax Act 1971 to give effect to a 2015 election commitment by the Government to provide a payroll tax rebate on the wages of apprentices and trainees.
- Duties Act 2001 and the Taxation Administration Act 2001 to support electronic conveyancing in Queensland.
- Duties Act 2001, First Home Owner Grant Act 2000, Payroll Tax Act 1971 and the Taxation Administration Act 2001 (revenue legislation) to maintain their currency and ensure their proper operation.
The Bill will also amend the:
- Financial Accountability Act 2009;
- Criminal Law (Criminal Organisations Disruption) and Other Legislation Amendment Act 2013;
- Environmental Protection Act 1994;
- Plumbing and Drainage Act 2002; and
- Water Supply (Safety and Reliability) Act 2008.
