TO: The Honourable the Speaker and Members of the Legislative Assembly of Queensland

Queensland residents draws to the attention of the House the urgent need to upgrade the single-lane sections of the Mundubbera-Durong Road between Boondooma and Brovinia, for both road safety and road train access into the North Burnett region.

This road is heavily trafficked and is a major freight, tourist and transit route for thousands of Queenslanders and still has over 10km of single-lane road sections, providing increased risks to road users. These sections are in areas with limited or no phone coverage, only exacerbating safety concerns.

Providing A-Double along this route will connect this region to the Port of Brisbane and various processing facilities, in turn reducing the total number of heavy vehicles on our roads and freight costs of goods, assisting in easing the costs of fresh produce from the North Burnett food-bowl, and provide new economic opportunities for the region.

Your petitioners, therefore, request the House to do all within its power to immediately upgrade the single lane sections of the Mundubbera-Durong Road to improve the safety of locals, workers, families, and visitors, and make any other upgrades required to allow road train access to Mundubbera.
