Queensland residents draws to the attention of the House that residents call on the House to recognise that the proposed residential development over part of the Moreton Bay Ramsar site at Toondah Harbour is totally inappropriate and must not proceed.

Your petitioners, therefore, request the House to:

  1. Move to fully protect Queensland’s Ramsar listed wetlands and the threatened migratory shorebirds that roost and forage in these areas, in accordance with international agreements and federal and state laws.
  2. Recommend to the Minister for State Development, Tourism and Innovation that she use her powers under section 42 of the Economic Development Act 2012 (revocation or reduction of priority development area) to reduce the current boundaries of the Toondah Priority Development Area to exclude any intrusion into the Moreton Bay Ramsar site.
