Queensland residents draws to the attention of the House that the area of walkway adjacent to the Esplanade starting from the end of Wynnum Manly Yacht Club to the end of Cambridge Parade requires upgrading. The path is un-even and dilapidated and not suitable on busy days accompanying both walkers and cyclists. The water’s edge is not functional or safe as the low-tide exposes sharp rocks, broken glass and debris.

Your petitioners, therefore, request the House to ensure construction of a boardwalk with access to the water to not only improve the image of the waterfront but also make it more practical. Providing stairs down to a platform at the water’s edge will ensure the safety of the people who use the harbour area for their activities. The boardwalk will also attract tourists to the area and increase revenue for our local business.
