Queensland residents draws to the attention of the House the need to prioritise repairs to the riverbank upstream from the John Muntz Bridge at Upper Coomera. Erosion along this section of riverbank has continued and there have been no adequate attempts to prevent further erosion occurring. Additionally, the water flow will again erode behind the rock layer beside the bridge if remedial works are not undertaken. Residents are also concerned water does not flow parallel under the bridge and now flows at approximately a 30-degree angle, therefore exposing all bridge pylons, not just the lead pylon as structurally designed, to addition pressure during flood events.

Your petitioners, therefore, request the House to request the State Government to prioritise and partnership with Local Government to share repair works and protect both State and Council assets.
