TO: The Honourable the Speaker and Members of the Legislative Assembly of Queensland

Queensland residents draws to the attention of the House the unacceptable levels of crime in Townsville and surrounding areas. Residents should not be held hostage in their own homes and are sick of feeling unsafe as criminals continue to break into their homes, steal their possessions, assault people and commit carjackings, among other crimes.
We feel the State Government has so far failed to listen to victims of crime and is unwilling to implement penalties that will act as real deterrents to criminals.

Your petitioners therefore request the House make significant legislative changes to introduce tougher penalties for offenders, including juveniles, so that law-abiding citizens can live in peace.
