TO: The Honourable the Speaker and Members of the Legislative Assembly of Queensland

The petition of residents of the State of Queensland draws to the attention of the House that the majority of people in the Division of Hill have to travel long distances to the main sporting complex in Atherton, as their towns lack sporting and recreational facilities. Part of the infrastructure in this sporting complex was demolished on the 16th July 2019, due to the inadequate support and maintenance of this facility. The community is asking to maintain the remaining sporting infrastructure and for it to be kept at this location. With existing and future grants for sports and recreational facilities to be shared within the surrounding towns in the Division of Hill as there is no public transport.

Your petitioners, therefore, request the House to take all actions necessary to maintain this existing concreate skate park located at 23 Vernon Street Atherton and for it to be kept in this sporting complex.
