TO: The Honourable the Speaker and Members of the Legislative Assembly of Queensland

Queensland Residents draws to the attention of the House: to the massive and growing debt of the Qld Government. The Qld debt is at record levels but our current Treasurer states that it is still intended to grow. The residents of Qld want the debt to stop growing so that our great grandchildren will not be still trying to pay back the debt of this government. Prior to the Palaszczuk government, the Qld debt to GDP ratio was consistently under 10. We don't believe that the ratio ever exceeded 10. However, since the Palaszczuk government has been in power, the debt to GDP ratio is now at 25 and still growing. This must stop.

Your petitioners, therefore, request the House to:

1. Immediately freeze the Qld debt level and ensure that it does not increase further,

2. Provide the residents of Qld with a financial plan that demonstrates how the State budget will be brought back to surplus within 2 years, and

3. Provide the residents of Qld with a financial plan that demonstrates how the debt to GDP ratio will be reduced to under 10 within 3 to 5 years.
