TO: The Honourable the Speaker and Members of the Legislative Assembly of Queensland

Queensland residents draws to the attention of the House the urgent need to allow the opening of the existing road bridge over the Gold Coast rail line, currently on private land, between Old Pacific Highway and Kosciuszko Circuit and require the developers on either side of the Gold Coast railway line to provide access to it including the construction of approach roads. According to the latest data from the Australian Bureau of Statistics the Pimpama community has the biggest growth of any suburb in Queensland and is the fastest-growing outside a capital city anywhere in Australia. The residents are currently held up by heavy congestion on Yawalpah Road, particularly during peak times, in their daily travel, from getting to areas on either side of the railway line. In peak times a short, two kilometre trip, can take more than 30 minutes, the opening of this bridge would reduce the time to around five minutes.

Your petitioners, therefore, request the House to do all in its power to ensure this bridge is commissioned as a matter of urgency.
