The petition of residents of the State of Queensland draws to the attention of the House that a bus service is required at 48 Progress Road, White Rock. There are 125 aged residents and 100 staff at the Bupa Aged Care Facility as well as 75 children and 23 staff at the Sheridan Meadows Daycare facility directly opposite that have no form of public transport. Staff at Bupa are having to walk across the highway at night to catch buses and the aged residents are unable to travel or have friends visit who require public transport. Cairns Regional Council has repeatedly supplied community surveys and relative data providing evidence of high need. Translink have acknowledged the need but have replied that there are no funds available to extend the service by 800 metres.

Your petitioners, therefore, request the House to provide funds in the appropriate budget to allow this service to commence and continue.
